After doing some digging, I found the settings you need to use for receiving Drobo alerts from your Gmail address.

To: Wherever you want to receive the email (use your mobile number@teleflip.com to receive as a text ex:7034567564@teleflip.com)

From: username@gmail.com

Mailserver: smtp.gmail.com

Port: 587

Check authentication box

Username: username@gmail.com

Password: xxxxxxxx

Check use SSL box

Try sending a test email to verify it works, enjoy your alerts from Drobo!
